Duncan Clark Teysha Technologies Raving in the rubbish

In this article, Duncan Clarke Teysha Technologies , head of operations at biodegradable biopolymer research platform Teysha Technologies, explains how festivals must start offering attendees eco-friendly alternatives and invest in sustainability schemes that develop new biodegradable materials to tackle large-scale littering. For many, the return of events like the Reading Festival will be a blessing after a long period of isolation during the global pandemic. However, many people are waiting in trepidation for the scenes of fields covered with discarded plastic waste that has been a regular occurrence since the iconic Woodstock Music and Art Fair in 1969, one of the UK’s first music festivals.  However, music festivals don’t have to be synonymous with mass littering and festival organizers are trying to change this stereotype. For example, Glastonbury, which produces around 2,000 tonnes of waste per year, has required attendees to adhere to the Glastonbury Green Pledge sin...

Duncan Clark Teysha Technologies: New plans to make UK world leader in green energy

The Prime Minister has set out new plans to Build Back Greener by making the UK the world leader in clean wind energy – creating jobs, slashing carbon emissions and boosting exports. £160 million will be made available to upgrade ports and infrastructure across communities like in Teesside and Humber in Northern England, Scotland and Wales to hugely increase our offshore wind capacity, which is already the largest in the world and currently meets 10 percent of our electricity demand. These commitments are the first stage outlined as part of the Prime Minister’s ten-point plan for a green industrial revolution, which will be set out fully later this year. This is expected to include ambitious targets and major investment into industries, innovation and infrastructure that will accelerate the UK’s path to net zero by 2050. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: Our seas hold immense potential to power our homes and communities with low-cost green energy and we are already leading the w...

Renovare Fuels Could waste help fuel the future?

When the by-products of agriculture, industry and day-to-day life arrive at a waste processing facility, by most accounts they’ve reached the end of their useful life. However, the millions of tonnes of readily biodegradable waste produced each year hasn’t finished being useful yet. Here, Matthew Stone, Chairman of Renovare Fuels , explains how waste material like this can help displace over two billion litres of fossil fuels each year — and generate financial rewards When the by-products of agriculture, industry and day-to-day life arrive at a waste processing facility, by most accounts they’ve reached the end of their useful life. Renovare Fuels :Breakthrough in sustainable diesel production

A new technology Renovare Fuels that converts biogas into a high-grade liquid fuel that can be used as a direct replacement for fossil fuels is being showcased for the first time at Alliance Dairies in Florida on February 18, 2019. The process developed by UK-based technology company Renovare Fuels, allows biogas from waste material to be used as a direct replacement for traditional fossil fuels, with the potential to displace billions of litres of fossil fuel each year. “There has been a significant push to recycle plastic and paper products over the past two decades, but we aren’t seeing the same push to reuse biodegradable waste like food-waste and agricultural materials,” explained Devin Walker, CTO at Renovare Fuels. “That leaves a lot of potential fuel sources lying in landfills. Processes like anaerobic digestion (AD) can be used to produce fuels, but the overall process hasn’t previously been particularly efficient. By using a specially developed Fischer-Tropsch synthesis...

Matthew Stone Teysha Technologies: Fund biopolymer research, not fracking to end climate change

Image
The report by the changemakers helps to highlight the dangers of global warming and calls for leading businesses to take responsibility for contributing to the climate crisis. Matthew Stone Teysha Technologies , Managing Director at Teysha Technologies , a polycarbonate research platform, shares how investing in biodegradable polymer substitutes could lead to the end of single-use plastics for good. These companies must take responsibility for their colossal plastic waste footprints and start to invest in cheaper, more durable, and genuinely sustainable, greener alternatives. The question is, how can this be achieved? Looking for Liquid Gold Matthew Stone of Teysha Technologies says: “It is evident that plastic production damages our environment, so why do we continue to produce it? The simple answer is that it is low-cost, durable, and malleable, making it a suitable material for use in industrial and consumer products. Every stage of the plastic lifecycle contributes considerab...

Matthew Stone Renovare Fuels Introduces the Latest Green Technology

The first half of 2020 has been dominated by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. These effects are far-reaching, and most will be long-lasting. The economy, society and the environment have all been affected in different ways. Lockdown measures have left many people unemployed and many businesses losing income. However, combined with travel restrictions, the environment has benefitted from the lockdown. Committee on Climate Change The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) issued its annual parliamentary report to the UK government in June 2020. The report delivers comprehensive advice on accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to cleaner, greener sources of energy as part of the economic recovery from the pandemic. This is the first time the CCC has outlined specific recommendations for each department of government, with urgent steps to be put in place to facilitate a green recovery. Carbon Capture and Storage Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies allow for a reduct...

Matthew Stone Teysha Technologies Discovered a Breakthrough Against Plastic Pollution

UK company Matthew Stone Teysha Technologies have developed an entirely unique technology platform for the production of an organic-based, plastic substitute with almost unlimited market applications. The European Commission's lawmakers recently announced plans to ban a range of plastic items, including single-use plates, straws and cutlery by 2021 with new rules that mark increasingly ambitious efforts by governments to reduce marine pollution. European officials said the move was also part of a broader strategy to create a market for recycled plastics and spur investment in new types of packaging in the bloc. The EU move is the latest in a series of similar policies which have been implemented by governments across the world as concerns have grown over plastics polluting oceans, damaging marine wildlife and infecting our food chain. Existing organic plastic substitutes are inhibited by limited usability, or the need to be treated in specific conditions to biodegrade. Teysha...

Innovate UK supports Renova re's aviation biofuel testing Renovare Fuels

UK-based technology company Renovare Fuels has been awarded support by Innovate UK for aviation fuel testing through the Sustainable Aviation for Clean Growth program. Fuel standards outlined by the British Ministry of Defence state that turbine-engine airplanes must use fuel that is compliant and certified to meet the ASTM D1655 standard. Renovare Fuels expects that, following the testing program with Innovate UK, the company’s fuel will be approved as a blending agent, suitable for use in commercial aircraft.   By completing the testing program, Renovare Fuels hopes its product will be recognized as a valuable and cost-effective alternative, to both diesel and aviation fuel.   “Many airlines are hesitant to adopt alternative fuels because of the longstanding issues that have been reported and not addressed,” explained Dr. Kris Anderson, project manager at Renovare Fuels. “For biofuels, there are two primary concerns, the first being the formation of paraffin crystals ...
